CHEAT’S CUISINE
Meat Pate
Buy a large jar ( or 2 small ) of meat pate of your choice and empty into a bowl, fry off a few chopped onions with a little chopped garlic and you can add a few chopped mushrooms if you wish, throw in a few chopped herbs, fresh or dried mix together and season to taste, chill for 30 minutes then enjoy with crusty bread, toast or add to a salad for a light meal, if you are entertaining pour a little melted butter over the top of the pate. Done.
Cinnamon Apples
Slice some apples and cook off in a little water to which you have added a small amount of brown or white sugar a little cinnamon to taste and some sultana’s or currants cook on low heat until soft about 10 minutes depending on type of apple, it is nice to keep a little bite to the apples, serve warm or cold with cream, yoghurt or ice-cream. I know it is too early to be reminded but they make you think of Christmas so are a nice quick winter pud.
Meat cooking Tip
For many years I have always cooked my meat or chicken ( except for pork with crackling ) in about a inch of water this tip was given to me by an auntie after asking why her meat was always soooo moist and of course is healthier and ideal for watching your weight.

I have just started cooking beef and lamb in a slow cooker. Just pop it in with nothing at all, and leave to cook for about5 or 6 hours, it’s fantastic, you will never use an oven again.
